ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

• Part-Time/Temporary Position – This position is a part time/temporary position and DOES NOT include health or medical benefits. Hours for this position will not exceed 938 per calendar year.
• Pay Considerations – The hourly pay for this position is $14.
• Work Schedule – The work hours varies (days, swings or graveyard) depending on the worksite’s need. May be working an average of 19 hours per week during off season and 40+ hours during summer season – May through September. This position may be required to work holidays.
• Work location – Various recreational centers throughout North Las Vegas (please choose from dropdown menu above your location preference).

THE ROLE

Under direct supervision, independently carries out programs for both indoor and outdoor parks and recreation activities. Works directly with program participants in a physically active recreation program environment. Recreation program assignments are varied and may include early childhood, aquatics, golf course, sports (adult and youth), class instruction, seniors, mobile recreation, special events, safekey (before and after school – elementary youth), and day camp.

• Any combination of participation, education, training, volunteer or paid experience that demonstrates the ability to assist with parks and recreation program services at an entry level.
• Bilingual Skills is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

The below required certifications must remain valid and current during employment for the City of North Las Vegas:

• Must possess a valid Nevada state driver’s license/Identification Credential or have the ability to obtain, and maintain a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
• Must possess a Standard First Aid and CPR Certificate within two weeks of hire prior to performing the essential functions of position. NLS will provide training.
• Must possess a Clark County Health Card (Food Handler Card) within thirty (30) days of date of hire.

SELECTION PROCESS

• The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume - The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process. The selection process will include (dates to be determined).
• Pre-Employment Screening
  – Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; drug screening; applicants 18 years of age will also go through federal criminal history check via submission of fingerprints and a Child Abuse & Neglect Registry clearance.
