At Skyeton, you’ll work at the leading edge of unmanned aircraft systems. Our Raybird UAVs fly critical missions, from reconnaissance and monitoring to targeting and search-and-rescue, proven across hundreds of thousands of operational flight hours. This is a UAS-focused engineering role, and everything you do centers on getting capability onto the aircraft and into the air.
You’ll work in a fast-paced engineering, integration, and test environment, moving from concept to flight quickly and validating new payloads and mission systems on real hardware rather than on paper. Expect hands-on, day-to-day exposure to emerging technologies across sensors, communications, and autonomy, with the freedom to prototype, integrate, and iterate.
Most importantly, your work gets fielded. You’ll help bring new technologies and mission capabilities directly to the warfighter on timelines that matter, and see the systems you build make a real operational difference.
What you'll do- Build and integrate the software that ties new payloads and mission systems into the Raybird air vehicle and its ground control station.
- Write payload-control, telemetry, and mission-data software, and get it talking to autopilots, sensors, and radios.
- Develop operator-facing tools for real-time video, mapping, telemetry, and mission management, across both front-end and back-end.
- Bring up new mission equipment on the bench: define interfaces, write drivers and adapters, and prove out the data path end to end.
- Create the test harnesses, simulators, loggers, and data-reduction tools the team relies on during rapid integration cycles.
- Support GPS-denied and EW-contested behavior in software, working alongside the navigation and autonomy effort.
- Turn builds around quickly for flight test, then triage logs and close issues fast.
- Minimum 3-5 years of software development on embedded, robotics, UAS, or other real-time systems.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Computer or Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Strong C/C++ and Python, with day-to-day work on embedded Linux.
- Experience across the stack, from services and APIs on the back end to operator UIs on the front end.
- Hands-on with machine-to-machine messaging and links (MAVLink, serial, UDP/TCP, Ethernet).
- Experience integrating autopilots or flight controllers (PX4, Ardu Pilot, or comparable) and their telemetry.
- Disciplined use of Git, code review, CI, and automated testing.
- Comfortable supporting flight test at U.S. military installations and iterating on real flight data.
- Sharp attention to detail and a bias toward shipping working software.
- Active U.S. security clearance, Minimum Secret, TS or TS/SCI preferred.
- Prior work on Department of War (DoW) programs.
- Experience building or extending ground control station software for fixed-wing UAS.
- Familiarity with encrypted digital datalinks and long-range comms.
- Experience handling GPS-denied navigation, multi-frequency GNSS, and CRPA anti-jam in software.
- Experience with autonomous waypoint flight, return-to-launch, and automated launch and recovery sequencing.
- Familiarity with MIL-STD and DO-178 software practices.
- 401k plan with company match.
- Medical insurance: voluntary health insurance program.
- Innovative projects: work in an international company that develops advanced technologies for the military sector and is actively growing in the global market.
- Career opportunities: participation in internal competitions for new positions, working on various projects, and expanding your skills.
- Competitive salary and a referral program for recommendations.
