University of Iowa Health Care is seeking skilled staff nurses for their Nursing Float Pool (Tier
2) — also known as the Enterprise Staffing Pool — for Adult Acute Care Services. These staff nurses will circulate several services to cover acute care units at University of Iowa Health Care University Campus, UI Health Care Downtown Campus, and UI Health Care North Liberty Campus. Key areas of responsibility include applying nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness, assessing patient health care preferences and expectations, collaboratively coordinating the continuum of care across settings, developing patient care plans based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic conditions that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes, implementing patient care plans according to patient priorities, which includes interventions identified through nursing diagnoses, documenting/reporting interventions and patient/family response, collaborating and integrating contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care plan, developing, coordinating and implementing transfer/discharge planning throughout episode of care, implementing nursing interventions according to department, division, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain safe environment for patients, visitors and staff, and following universal precautions.
Just in time assignments (cover sign offs, census flexing) are anticipated for 4-12 hours in an area with holiday and weekend requirements. Utilize a self-scheduling model and float within specialty between MCU & MCD campuses. Percent of time: 60% - 90% - 24 - 36 hours per week.

Night shifts with holiday and weekend requirements.
Location:
Iowa City, IA. SEIU Pay Plan: PD20. Tier 2 Staff Nurses receive an additional $7/hr. on all hours worked. Education requirement:
An associate's degree in nursing, a diploma in nursing, a baccalaureate degree in nursing, professional masters of nursing and healthcare practice (MNHP), MSN/clinical nurse leader or a master's degree in nursing (MSN, MA) is required.
Required qualifications:
2 or more years of current experience with adult acute care is required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions. General computer skills are required, including proficiency in managing multiple databases including Microsoft Excel. Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire.
Desired qualifications:
Baccalaureate degree in nursing is highly desired. If a baccalaureate degree in nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable. A minimum of 2 years of inpatient nursing experience, preferably within the last 5 years, is highly desired. Please include a resume with your submission.
