Middle Level Gifted And Talented Facilitator

Instruct students in one or more subjects utilizing process skills for gifted education at the elementary level designated according to state licensure, certification, and subject matter specialty as assigned by the building Principal.

Essential functions include establishing and enforcing rules for behavior, maintaining a cooperative relationship with other staff members, demonstrating a high individual rate attendance, preparing materials and classrooms for class activities, adapting teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests, maintaining accurate and complete student records, assigning and grading class work and homework in a timely manner, enforcing all NLRSD Board policies, implementing the Plan and conducting activities for a balanced program of instruction using researched-based best practices, guiding and counseling all students based on their academic interests and needs, instructing and monitoring students in the use and care of equipment and materials, preparing for assigned classes, using technology to support instruction, meeting with parents and/or guardians to discuss their children's progress, conferring with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators in order to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems, preparing objectives and comprehensive lesson plans following curriculum maps and the Arkansas State Frameworks, attending professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence, collaborating with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of secondary school programs, preparing reports on students and activities as required by the administration, selecting, storing, ordering, issuing, and inventorying classroom equipment, materials, and supplies, administering standardized ability and achievement tests according to state requirements and interpreting results to determine students' strengths and areas of need, developing, implementing, and updating Academic Improvement Plans, attending staff meetings and serving on committees as required, performing supervisory duties as assigned in accordance with state statutes, adhering to North Little Rock School District Policies, and the state-mandated "Educators' Code of Ethics," following all state and federal guidelines in association with IDEA and ADA to ensure that all students have access to a comprehensive education.

Education:

Minimum of a Master's Degree with a valid Arkansas Teacher's License with appropriate certification (Gifted and Talented), in addition to being a Highly Qualified Teacher meeting Arkansas Department of Education standards.

Experience:

Experience preferred, but not required.

Skills and abilities

include basic technology proficiency, with the ability to learn and implement district teacher technology to include grade reporting and parental communication technology (Grade Quick, Ed Line Programs).

Other requirements include appreciation for diversity and ability to pass required ASP/FBI/DHS background checks.

Physical demands include lifting/carrying, standing, walking, sitting, handling/fingering, reaching outward, reaching above shoulder, climbing, crawling, squatting or kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, vision (near, distance, peripheral), sense of sound (ability to converse with students and parents), and sense of touch.

Work environment is generally indoors in a school classroom with noise level ranging from quiet to loud, depending on the activities of the day. Duties are performed indoors and occasionally outdoors. Large crowds and student assembly situations are encountered in this job.
