JOB ROLE
SUMMARY:
The Project Engineer supports project planning, coordination, and execution by assisting with estimating, documentation, and technical support. This role works closely with project managers, estimators, and field teams to ensure projects are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.
DUTIES AND
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Create a Schedule of Values for our pay applications and submit it to the General Contractor. (this is typically an accounting function)
- Analyze the construction schedule and be aware of all construction schedule timelines and project completion dates.
- Create submittals for doors, frames, and hardware from architectural plans and specifications.
- Research and understand the mechanical workings of doors, frames, and hardware and the practical applications of all three.
- Communicate effectively with both Sales/Estimating and Project Managers with all possibilities of product substitutions, value engineering, and questions concerning final submittals.
- Actively pursue contractual “Change Orders” possibilities during the shop drawing process.
- Create project costing reports for review as required and back up information confirming overall project profitability.
- Create product catalog sheets for all products included in the shop drawings.
- Other job duties and responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be organized.
- Must be able to manage time efficiently.
- Able to stand and or sit for extended periods of time.
- Able to lift up to 50lbs.
- Able to communicate in a friendly and professional manner to customers and team members.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Management, co-workers, and customers.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma (Required)
- 2 year degree or equivalent work experience (required)
- Degree from accredited 2 year business school or 4 year college/university (preferred)
DESIRED
SKILLS:
- Strong knowledge of MS Office suite, primarily Excel
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced corporate environment
- Willing to learn to read architectural plans and specifications
- Able to multi-task and meet strict deadlines
- Problem-solving and critical thinking skills
