The Circulating Nurse is a Registered Nurse responsible for planning, organizing, and administering care within the scope of his/her training and expertise. The Circulating Nurse assists surgeons and other healthcare professionals during surgical procedures, working outside the operating room’s sterile field to ensure a clean and sterile environment. Responsibilities include administration of medications, implementation and maintenance of surgical counts, preparation for operations/procedures, documentation of surgery/procedure, monitoring perioperative staff, instruments, and equipment, and delivery of surgical specimens.
Responsibilities• Plan, organize, and administer patient care in collaboration with other disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with hospital objectives and policies and the Nurse Practice Act of the state of Arkansas.
- New RN graduate from an accredited nursing program or a Registered Nurse with an unencumbered license in good standing to practice in the state of Arkansas. BSN preferred.
- Healthcare CPR required; some areas may require ACLS, PALS, and/or NALS—training is provided.
- Specialty units require and will provide specific specialty education.
- Applies basic knowledge and skills to meet standard of care.
- Able to practice as a full partner of an interdisciplinary team.
This job will be authorized 48.00 hours bi‑weekly.
