About the Role
We are seeking a Director of Product Management, Developer Experience to lead the strategy, roadmap, and product team responsible for the next generation of Zillow's developer platform. This role reports to the VP of Product, Platform and manages a team of 4+ Product Managers in partnership with Engineering, AI Platform, Security, and our staff/principal engineering community. The director will own the bet that AI fundamentally reshapes software development at Zillow, delivering tools that materially increase engineering productivity and enable non‑engineering builders to accelerate the product lifecycle.
Responsibilities- Partner with the Senior Director of Engineering, Developer Experience to set and own a multi‑year vision and roadmap for Dev Ex, covering the inner development loop, CI/CD, release, observability, internal developer portal and AI‑assistant tooling.
- Lead and grow a high‑performing team of Product Managers, each owning a critical surface area of the Dev Ex portfolio.
- Collaborate with VP‑level engineering leaders across Zillow Group to co‑own outcomes, ensure adoption and share OKRs and roadmaps.
- Define the strategy for AI‑assisted and agentic development, including evaluation, governance, and rollout of AI coding tools, measuring impact, and extending safety guidelines to non‑engineering personas.
- Make Dev Ex a measurable business by instrumenting developer satisfaction, DORA/SPACE‑style outcomes, AI‑leveraged throughput and adoption.
- Drive adoption and deliver measurable outcomes, reporting impact in business terms such as cycle time, change‑failure rate, developer satisfaction and AI leverage ratio.
- Partner deeply with engineering leadership to co‑own the platform, shared roadmaps, shared OKRs, shared on‑call and incident posture.
- Lead and develop the PM team: hiring, coaching, raising the bar on Platform‑as‑a‑Product thinking, and representing the portfolio in VP+ forums.
- 10+ years of platform product leadership, with significant experience on developer‑facing infrastructure or platform products.
- Proven track record managing multi‑team, multi‑year roadmaps at a Director level and shipping tools engineers love.
- Deep technical expertise, AI‑fluent and experienced with staff/principal engineers on architecture trade‑offs and AI‑assisted tooling.
- Clear, opinionated perspective on how AI changes software development and where it does not.
- Platform‑as‑a‑Product mindset and ability to treat internal customers like external ones.
- Experience building high‑performing PM teams, fostering inclusion, and driving retention and performance.
- Hands‑on technical background in software, ML/AI, or Dev Ops earlier in career; preferred experience scaling developer platforms at a consumer marketplace, large‑enterprise SaaS or AI‑first company.
- Direct experience evaluating or building agentic development tools such as authoring assistants, autonomous test/repair, code generators, IDE assistants or agent harnesses.
- Experience partnering with Security, Privacy and Compliance on developer‑tool rollouts in regulated environments.
- Ability to measure developer productivity credibly using DORA, SPACE or developer surveys.
