At the Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL), we take pride in and highly value our employees. This position is an excellent fit for computer engineering or software engineering students to support hardware and software for various custom network and communication systems. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Engineering Assistant to join our team. Comprehensive training will be provided to help you support our team effectively.

- Supports the development, monitoring, and troubleshooting of data pipelines and processes
- Assists with development of automated hardware and software test procedures
- Assists with assembly, test, and validation of electrical hardware
- Creates and maintains documentation
- Collaborates with hardware and software engineers on ongoing projects, actively participating in team meetings and contributes to assigned tasks
- Supports testing, debugging, and issue resolution for hardware and software, documenting problems, and applying fixes
- Proactively engages in learning new tools, technologies, and concepts to develop technical skills and contribute effectively
- Must be a Utah State University student pursuing a degree/certification in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related field with a minimum of 3 years remaining in school
- Candidates should have some familiarity in one or more of the following: reading and understanding electronic schematics, hardware and software test and troubleshooting procedures, computer networking, working with and programming FPGAs, and programming in Python, C, C++, and/or Java Script
- Must be able to work effectively; both independently and as a team member
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal are essential
- Must be able to work 15-20 hours per week during semesters and up to 40 hours per week during summers
- The successful candidate must be able to obtain a DoW security clearance; eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship
