Position: Business Analyst I (Salary commensurate with experience)

Under limited supervision is responsible for evaluating business processes, anticipating requirements, uncovering areas for improvement, and developing and implementing solutions.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field

Experience:

Six (6) years of progressive relevant experience

  • Must be able to obtain required CJIS certification (including CJIS background check)
  • The City retains the right to determine equivalencies.
  • Any certifications not possessed at hire, must be obtained before the employee is removed from probation in order to continue employment with the City.

Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines and equipment including various computer equipment, telephone, fax machine, etc. Must be able to exert up to twenty-five pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve lifting, walking or standing for periods of time.

Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of five to ten pounds.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF ASSIGNMENT Public Safety Application Support
  • Provide functional and technical support for applications and systems used by Police and Fire.
  • Troubleshoot application issues and coordinate resolution with IT staff, users, vendors, and third-party support providers.
  • Assist with system configuration, testing, upgrades, patches, integrations, and implementation of new functionality.
  • Maintain knowledge of Public Safety applications and ensure systems remain current, reliable, and aligned with departmental needs.
  • Coordinate testing and user acceptance prior to deploying significant system changes.
System Integration and Technology Planning
  • Identify opportunities to integrate Public Safety systems to improve information sharing and operational efficiency.
  • Assist departments with developing technology roadmaps and budget priorities.
Security, Reliability, and Continuity
  • Work with IT personnel to support the security, availability, and reliability of Public Safety technology.
  • Assist with identifying single points of failure and developing appropriate backup procedures, documentation, and knowledge transfer.
  • Participate in planning for system redundancy, disaster recovery, business continuity, and technology replacement.
  • Follow applicable City policies and security requirements when handling Public Safety systems and information.
