Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Under close supervision, performs maintenance and repairs on a variety of gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. Performs related duties such as conducting preventive maintenance, operating shop equipment, providing wrecker service, maintaining service records, maintaining the shop, upkeep on maintenance facility, tools, and equipment. Must be able to lift at least 75 pounds.
EducationHigh school graduate with vocational/technical school training in automotive/diesel repair
ExperienceFive (5) years of experience as a mechanic
Certifications- Valid driver’s license
- CDL
- Forklift license
Note:
- The City retains the right to determine equivalencies.
- Any certifications not possessed at hire, must be obtained before the employee is removed from probation in order to continue employment with the City.
Must be physically able to operate a truck, welding machine, drill press, back hoe, wrecker, mechanical, carpentry, welding, and machine tools, mops and brooms, sand blaster and automotive test equipment. Must be able to exert up to fifty pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to twenty-five pounds of force frequently, and/or up to ten pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of ten to one hundred pounds.
