Heavy Equipment Operator, Construction Labor / Trades, General Labor, Building Maintenance
Under close supervision, operates several types of specialized and heavy construction and maintenance equipment requiring a high degree of skill and attention. Performs skilled and general labor as required when not operating equipment. Provides guidance and leadership to Trades Workers and others. Trains new employees in the operation and care of equipment. Must be physically able to operate dump trucks, tractors, dresser loader, rollers, motor grader, backhoe, track hoe, carpentry, masonry and asphalt tools, and numerous other small tools and equipment.
Must be able to exert in excess of one hundred pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of fifty pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of twenty pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of ten to one hundred pounds.
- High school diploma or GED
- Two years of experience operating heavy construction and maintenance equipment and performing related skilled work
- Valid commercial driver's license at hire
The City retains the right to determine equivalencies. Any certifications not possessed at hire, must be obtained before the employee is removed from probation in order to continue employment with the City.
