Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Welder / MIG/MAG/TIG, Installation Technician
Full Time – Ogden, Utah, Ogden, UT, US
Essential Functions- Supervise a crew and complete a job from start to finish without direct supervision
- Expedite all parts throughout the plant as necessary to meet production goals
- Resolve all obstacles related to the job being performed
- Take ownership for meeting customer and schedule requirements
- Demonstrate the company principles of unity, trust, honesty, integrity, creativity, and self-reliance
- Make all welds uniform and clean, and complete work to customer’s specifications
- Pass a Blueprint test:
- Read all weld symbols on a blueprint
- Differentiate between channel, angle, flat bar, square tube, pipe, etc.
- Pass a basic plate weld test (visual and bend) within specified time requirements in four of five weld processes used at Petersen Inc:
- F.C.A.W. – Stainless and mild steel: 3G and 6G positions
- G.M.A.W. – Mild steel: 3G position
- G.T.A.W. – Stainless and aluminum: 3G and 6G positions
- S.A.W. – Sub arc: 1G position is a plus but not required
- Calculate arc length, circumference, bolt circles, chord length, and flat pattern
- Work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly to solve problems quickly and effectively
- Maintain efficiency and productivity, and uphold an acceptable attendance and safety record
- Resolve problems, handle conflicts, and make effective decisions under pressure
- Perform math calculations, including trigonometry, as required
High School education or GED preferred. Four years of shop or field welding experience.
Essential Physical Functions- Lifting, stooping, bending, and stretching to accomplish grinding, welding, and other assigned duties
- Working at different heights
- Correctable vision within normal range to perform clean welds and read blueprints
- Standing, bending, and stooping for extended periods of time
- Must not pose a significant risk to the safety or health of self or others
- Commit to high safety standards and comply with all safety laws, company policies, and rules; report safety violations or potential violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel
Must be available and willing to travel as determined necessary or desirable by the employer to meet business needs.
Working ConditionsTypical fabrication shop environment. May work overtime. Conditions may vary according to weather and may require working in heat and cold.
