Position: Construction Manager-Level 4 - Lead (15+ Years)
Description:
Responsible for coordinating and managing construction work performed by contractors and/or vendors at the project site.
Responsible to assess productivity, schedule compliance, work quality, and safety performance on the project.
Responsible to manage walk downs of planned work, validate acceptance of completed work to design requirements, approve contractor payment requests, verify constructability, ensure proper resource allocations, assess field status, and resolve issues as needed.
Responsible for scope control, budget oversight, performance reporting, schedules, and work in progress to ensure Construction Supervisors are effectively implementing their assignments and obtaining the desired results.
Provides leadership and coaching to Construction Supervisors and supplemental workforce, communicating departmental, station, and division goals and validating each performera s ability to impact those goals.
Acts as a critical bridge between field operations and customer leadership, ensuring construction crews and project stakeholders remain aligned.
Addresses logistical challenges, resolves conflicts, and ensures construction activities stay on track.
Survey and observe contractor Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) practices; provide coaching, direction and corrective action as needed
Education:
Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Power Generation, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Relevant Experience:
15+ years of experience in power plant commissioning, working with EPC Contractors, engineering firms, and equipment suppliers.
Responsibilities:
- Define strategic commissioning frameworks and corporate-wide standards.
- Manage enterprise-level commissioning projects and regulatory compliance.
- Oversee long-term planning and high-value contractual agreements.
- Act as a key advisor for executive leadership on commissioning and operations strategy.
- Drive innovation and process optimization across multiple project sites.
Other:
Strong understanding of engineering principles related to power plant commissioning.

• Summary of position
  • The construction manager is responsible for the project's success from a field level. CM's spend more time at their computer then in the field they are the quarterback of the project in the field for Next Era. They are the bridge between the field and the Project Manager. 70% office and 30% field on average in this position.

• Preconstruction
  • Know your contract documents (READ THEM)
  • Know the contractor SAFETY PLAN (READ IT)
    • This document is how we manage the contractor for safety
    • If something seems to be missing or not correct work with Next Era Safety to fix
  • Kickoff Meeting
    • Let the contractor know the expectations for the job
  • Site Specific Orientation (contractor should host this and Next Era should attend)
  • You should read and know the permits, road use agreements, crossing agreements, SWPPP, haul routes, drawings, material, schedule, QA/QC, Submittals to engineering for review
  • Set expectations, lead, and train the Next Era team
