Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior PLC/SCADA Engineer to support the design, programming, integration, and commissioning of utility-scale renewable energy and power generation projects, including Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This role will be responsible for end-to-end control system development using PLCs (preferably Schneider Electric platforms) and SCADA systems (Ignition), ensuring reliable integration with grid infrastructure and compliance with utility and OEM requirements.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in industrial automation, power systems, and communication protocols, along with strong commissioning and troubleshooting capabilities in complex, mission-critical energy environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, program, and maintain PLC logic (preferably Schneider Electric platforms) for utility-scale energy and BESS applications
• Design and implement SCADA/HMI solutions using Ignition platform
• Integrate and troubleshoot industrial communication protocols including Modbus and DNP3
• Support system integration for inverters, BESS control systems, and energy management systems
• Execute and support FAT/SAT testing, commissioning, and site validation activities
• Ensure compliance with grid interconnection requirements and utility standards
• Coordinate and deliver OEM, PPA, and LGIA testing completion and documentation
• Diagnose and resolve complex control system and communication issues in field environments
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and commissioning teams for project execution
• Maintain awareness of cybersecurity requirements, including NERC CIP guidelines

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
• 11+ years of experience in PLC programming (preferably Schneider Electric systems)
• Strong expertise in SCADA systems, preferably Ignition platform, and HMI development
• Deep understanding of Modbus, DNP3, and industrial communication protocols
• Hands-on experience with utility-scale renewable energy or power generation projects
• Strong knowledge of power systems, grid operations, and energy infrastructure
• Experience with FAT/SAT testing and commissioning protocols
• Proven exposure to BESS, inverters, and energy storage technologies
• Strong analytical, debugging, and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent documentation and communication abilities
• Willingness to travel up to 25% for commissioning support

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with grid interconnection studies and utility compliance requirements
• Prior exposure to NERC CIP cybersecurity standards
• Experience working with OEMs and large-scale EPC/utility project environments
• Background in energy storage controls or hybrid renewable systems
• Field commissioning experience in large infrastructure or power projects
