Construction Manager-Level 2 - Experienced (6 - 10 Years)
The Construction Manager is responsible for the safe and successful execution of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and associated Substation construction projects, from pre-construction through commissioning and turnover. This role serves as the owner's onsite representative, ensuring contractors perform work in accordance with contract documents, engineering requirements, company standards, and project objectives. The position involves leading field execution while coordinating with various internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage construction work performed by contractors and vendors at the project site.
- Assess productivity, schedule compliance, work quality, and safety performance on the project.
- Manage walk downs of planned work, validate acceptance of completed work to design requirements, and approve contractor payment requests.
- Verify constructability, ensure proper resource allocations, assess field status, and resolve issues as needed.
- Provide leadership and coaching to Construction Supervisors and the supplemental workforce.
- Act as a critical bridge between field operations and customer leadership to ensure alignment between construction crews and project stakeholders.
- Address logistical challenges, resolve conflicts, and ensure construction activities remain on track.
- Survey and observe contractor Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) practices, providing coaching and direction as needed.
- Lead commissioning projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety requirements.
- Oversee system testing, troubleshooting, and quality assurance during the commissioning phase.
Required Qualifications
Education:
An Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Power Generation, or a related field, or equivalent experience is required.
Experience:
8-10 years of experience in power plant commissioning, working with EPC Contractors, engineering firms, and equipment suppliers is required. Driving will be required as part of the position duties.
Technical
Skills:
A strong understanding of engineering principles related to power plant commissioning is required.
