Position Specific Description

We are seeking a Tax Professional to join the tax operations team. This professional will have several key responsibilities including: preparation and review of income tax provisions, preparation and/or review of federal and state income tax returns, tax basis balance sheet calculations and account reconciliations under ASC
740; work closely with Tax Technology to continue to streamline processes related to tax calculations. This position will help ensure that Next Era Energy Resources remains “Best in Class” with regard to the quality and efficiency of our income tax process.

Working under the direction of a Tax Manager, this position will be responsible for preparation and review income tax provisions under ASC
740 as well as the tax‑related financial information and disclosures to be included in the applicable SEC filings (notably Forms 10‑K and 10‑Q). The successful candidate will work with various stakeholders to complete tax provision and tax return analysis and computation.

The candidate will be involved in validation of deferred tax positions and analysis for primary drivers of the company’s effective tax rate. The candidate will also partner with the Federal/State planning teams to ensure M&A transactions are accurately recorded in the provision and accurately reported on the income tax returns, focus on special projects (including system maintenance and/or development, leverage technology to create effective financial models & calculations supporting tax returns and provisions, and identify process improvements through use of technology and innovation.

Extended Hours may be necessary.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepares and reviews federal/state/local income tax returns, schedules, extensions and payment estimates in line with the company’s tax filing calendar
  • Conducts financial and economic analyses, developing and preparing the organization’s financial plans and budgets and interpreting financial reports and tax returns
  • Researches inquiries from government agencies regarding filings, compliance, and other claims
  • Prepares tax calculations to support tax controversy analyses
  • Conducts tax assumptions in project models
  • Performs other job‑related duties as assigned
