Overview
The System Administrator is responsible for providing thoughtful leadership to a broad range of IT disciplines including system performance and resiliency, network performance, security administration, and operations in physical/virtual, Cloud Windows and Linux environments. Is a hands-on administrator that installs, configures, monitors, and performs problem determination for servers and software.
Local Candidate Only: This is a hybrid opportunity and must be able to come to the North Palm Beach, Florida office 1 or 2 days a week.
The System Administrator will:
- Adheres to all Service Request, Incident, and Change Management policies and procedures.
- Adheres to all procedures and policies including the use of Incident and Change Management.
- Works with leadership to identify project requirements
- Assists and leads project teams.
- Addresses complex technical issues and offers solutions supporting the enterprise.
- Participates in overall support rotation.
- Ensures system and tool checks are performed daily to verify the integrity, performance, and availability of servers and resources in physical/virtual and Cloud environments.
- Assists Systems Administrators as required or requested.
- Researches and recommends innovative, and where possible automated, approaches for system administration tasks in physical/virtual and Cloud environments.
- Performs troubleshooting as required and leads problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations.
- Performs ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization in physical/virtual and Cloud environments.
- Performs capacity monitoring and assists with short and long-term capacity planning.
- Installs, configures, tests and maintains operating systems, application software and system management tools in physical/virtual and Cloud environments.
- Identifies approaches that leverage resources and provide economies of scale.
- Assists with security monitoring, vulnerability scanning, and penetration testing.
- Verifies data backup, replication, and testing operations are performing correctly.
- Applies OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrades administrative tools and utilities.
- Actively participates in the implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity capabilities.
- Identifies and helps to gather and format data for Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
- Perform on-call responsibilities and after-hours duties as necessary.
- Creates and maintains detailed technical support and process documentation.
- Must be able to pass a Federal background check
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
Individuals working for DSS will be subject to security and privacy requirements as explained in HIPAA, FedRAMP, and NIST 800-53. Additionally, they are required to undergo specific FedRAMP training to ensure compliance with all associated controls and responsibilities in the day-to-day performance of their duties. Individuals working in departments that are considered to be in the high-risk category will be required to undergo advanced training based on their role and level of access.
Individuals with access to modify data and the configuration baseline will require further training.

Required Skills
- 8+ years of experience administering Windows Server operating systems.
- 2+ years of experience administering servers and services in the Azure/AWS Cloud.
- Comprehensive working knowledge of Linux operating system, especially process and system monitoring facilities.
- Ability to analyze and tune performance issues by leveraging various industry-standard monitoring and reporting tools.
- Experience in server and application remediations to be complaint from Security scans, e.g.:
NessWASA/Pen. - WAN and LAN configuration and troubleshooting skills.
- Enterprise backup and recovery procedures.
- Has knowledge of and the ability to use system performance monitoring tools.
- Experience administering servers and services in the AWS Cloud. Cisco UCS blade installation and management knowledge and skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience with installation, configuration of Monitoring tools (Stand Alone/Cloud) and providing On Call support.
- Exhibits mature organization and time management skills
