The North Plainfield School District, a culturally diverse Pre‑K 12 district serving approximately 3,700 students in Somerset County, is seeking a dynamic and innovative Student Assistance Counselor for North Plainfield High School.
As part of our school community, you will help foster a culture where all students thrive. The district participates in the NJDOE Limited Certificate Program, allowing eligible candidates to work full‑time while completing certification requirements. Qualifications- Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate
- Substance Awareness Coordinator Endorsement required
- Knowledge of substance abuse counseling, curriculum development, and staff training
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Bilingual preferred
- Provide counseling and intervention services for students with substance abuse concerns
- Coordinate referrals, aftercare plans, and prevention programs
- Collaborate with families, staff, treatment providers, and community agencies
- Support staff development and substance awareness training
- Assist with policy review, prevention initiatives, and community outreach
- Perform other duties as assigned within certification scope
$69,630 (minimum) to $103,470 (maximum), commensurate with experience
