Job Description

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive sales and contribute to store sales goals by selling furniture, accessories, and services.
  • Promote the Design program and assist the Designer in achieving sales goals.
  • Consistently execute the La‑Z‑Boy selling process and strive to provide a favorable experience to all customers.
  • Develop and utilize sales skills and principles including approach, rapport building, needs discovery, portfolio presentations, answering objections, closing, follow‑up, after‑sale service, and continuing contact with previous and potential customers.
  • Maximize store promotions, marketing initiatives, and grassroots programs.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of features and benefits of existing and new product lines.
  • Schedule professional home consultations to present customized room designs, including sample fabrics, furniture, tables, and accessory recommendations.
  • Execute and champion the Design process following established company guidelines.
  • Support design‑related functions in the store.
  • Provide the highest level of customer service and follow the company selling process.
  • Effectively use Podium for customer satisfaction and future follow‑up.
  • Make sound business decisions to promote customer satisfaction and a team environment.
  • Assist with phone calls, emails, and customer issue resolution.
  • Train, coach, and develop new peers on product knowledge and selling processes.
  • Maintain visual appearance of the store, including displays, tagging, and catalogs.
  • Accurately complete order information, collect deposits, and keep organized customer records.
  • Schedule deliveries with customers and ensure deliveries meet store standards.
  • Open and close the store.
Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous selling experience and strong closing ability preferred.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for building rapport and influence.
  • Demonstrated persuasion and negotiation skills.
  • Time‑management skills to handle conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to work the schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
Preferred Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field.
Compensation
  • Base pay: $13 per hour (varies by location) after 2–6 weeks of training.
  • Commission rates vary from 2%–6% based on sales type.
  • Uncapped commission and quarterly bonus opportunity up to $3,500.
  • Training pay: $16 per hour for the first 2–6 weeks.
  • Average post‑training total earnings: $50,000–$70,000+.
