The Senior Tax Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in North Platte, NE. This role involves managing and reviewing complex tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and other entities, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. Daily responsibilities include performing technical tax research, interpreting tax laws, preparing and reviewing work papers, and supporting tax planning strategies for clients. The Senior Tax Accountant will also assist in preparing and analyzing financial statements, collaborate with the accounting team to improve processes, and communicate with clients to gather information, explain findings, and provide proactive guidance.
Mentoring junior staff, maintaining organized documentation, and staying current with tax and accounting standards are integral parts of the position.
- Strong tax expertise, including Tax, Tax Preparation, and Tax Compliance, with the ability to handle complex returns and planning engagements.
- Proficiency in Accounting principles and standards, including experience preparing, reviewing, and analyzing Financial Statements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA license or eligibility strongly preferred.
- Experience in public accounting with a focus on tax; prior senior-level responsibilities or supervisory experience beneficial.
- Advanced proficiency with tax and accounting software and strong skills in spreadsheet and office applications.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with clients and team members.
- Commitment to professional ethics, confidentiality, and continuous learning in changing tax and regulatory environments.
