RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide direct and consultative educational services to students with physical and health disabilities in general and special education settings in local district schools, kindergarten through twelfth grade
  • Conduct assessments and develop and implement individual educational plans in accordance with due process and district practice and child study procedures
  • Work cooperatively with local district educational teams to develop and implement students' educational programs
  • Comply with School Board policies and administrative practices, including procedures outlined in the Special Education Staff and Parent/Guardian Handbooks
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minnesota Dept. of Ed. Physical and Health Disabilities (PHD) Teacher license preferred, or Minnesota Dept. of Ed, Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD)
  • Knowledge of assistive technology tools (specialized software/hardware) that provide access to curriculum, assist with communication, or other usage
  • Skills in communicating with parents and interdisciplinary team members
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds weight, tolerate sudden jarring movement, and tolerate frequent bending and lifting
  • Valid driver's license
DISTRICT PROFILE

Intermediate School District 917 provides special education, career & technical education (CTE), and/or alternative learning for nine member districts in the south metro. Our programs are located in more than 20 sites throughout the south metro, including Dakota County Technical College (DCTC) where our district office is located. We focus on being purposeful, personalized partners within our community as we model an innovative culture with diverse pathways serving students and families through equitable practices with highly trained staff.

Our CTE programs are all located at DCTC, and our alternative learning program (Dakota County Area Learning School (DCALS) has two locations, one co-located in DCTC in Rosemount and one in West St. Paul. At ISD 917, we belong to each other, and no one is invisible.
