Description of WorkThe Assistant Director of Experiential Learning manages several signature experiences and special programming within Nebraska Business. This position is the main contact for volunteers engaged with MNGT 101 and MNGT 475 and the liaison between the MNGT 101 instructor and respective learning assistants. Special programs will include the Tenaska Business Challenge and programming for the IBL program. Additionally, this position will collect and review data around learning outcomes within the College of Business.
ProgramDevelopment/ Management MNGT 101 & MNGT 475
- Manage the logistical and pedagogical process of implementing experiential learning activities in business courses.
- Recruit, train, and manage up to 150 corporate volunteers for MNGT 101 and MNGT 475. Work with faculty to match volunteers with students/groups. Volunteers will engage, evaluate, and provide feedback on students’ work.
- Collaborate with the Assoc. Dir of the TLC to hire and train approximately 20-30 undergraduate learning assistants (LAs) for MNGT 101.
- Ensure the LAs are prepared to assist and lead MNGT 101 activities, lead weekly meetings with LAs, and act as the liaison between the MNGT 101 instructor and the LAs to ensure recitations are taught in a consistent manner; utilize evidence-based student retention and success strategies.
- Set up assignments/activities in Canvas and lead communications with stakeholders. These activities will span the semester and have multiple deadlines.
- Serve as primary contact for respective program to students, faculty/staff and other constituents.
- Plan and implement the internal UNL and multi-university rounds of the Tenaska Business Challenge:
Coordinate with Tenaska to write the case, recruit students from across campus, and plan/implement the first round event which includes an asynchronous submission & evaluation period and then a synchronous presentation event with 20+ professional volunteers; recruit and host 24 teams from across the country for the 2-day second round event that involves 150 visiting students, faculty and professional volunteers/judges. - Develop and/or revise/manage programming for IBL sophomores-senior students to enhance their personal and professional development.
- Manage a budget of private funding for IBL programming.
- Identify and collaborate with college stakeholders additional co/curricular learning opportunities.
- Measure the impact of adding MNGT 101 to the business core curriculum.
- Develop a strategy around learning metrics specific the business core and student populations.
- Identify data and trends around student success and outcomes in the College of Business that could assist in decision making processes.
- Assist in data collection and assessment for the college’s assurance of learning process for AACSB .
