Summary

The Community Banker delivers personalized client service by holding financial conversations with clients and prospects to determine their needs and provide appropriate solutions. The position maintains client relationships, adhering to First Interstate Bank’s Service Commitments, vision, and values.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Delivers personalized client service in person and over the phone by answering questions, assisting with issues, and offering solutions.
  • Opens and maintains a variety of products including consumer and business checking and savings accounts, Individual Retirement Accounts, Certificates of Deposit, and consumer and small business credit cards.
  • Holds financial conversations with clients and prospects to determine needs and provide appropriate solutions.
  • Processes new consumer loan requests and may engage in conversations or process new small business loan requests.
  • Identifies referral opportunities to other lines of business—including Home Loans, Treasury Solutions, Merchant Services, Business Banking, and Wealth Management—and consistently utilizes 360 View to document referrals and other client activity.
  • Builds client relationships through outbound outreach and proactive engagement.
  • Performs teller duties when needed, conducting financial transactions such as check cashing, deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and accurately counting currency and coin.
  • Completes work accurately with minimal errors.
  • Participates in volunteer activities and financial education efforts.
  • Stays current on regulatory changes and demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations, policies, and procedures related to assigned job functions.

  • Demonstrate timely completion of work and adapt to work demands to meet expected deadlines.
  • Produce complete and accurate work, displaying pride and professionalism.

  • Demonstrates strong conversational ability with clients to understand their needs and originates all types of personal loans.
  • Compliance with the S.A.F.E. Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 and related regulations; employment contingent on meeting these requirements, including background investigation results.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • 1–3 years of banking or related experience required.
