Maintenance Supervisor

Job Title: Kill Floor Maintenance Supervisor
Location: North Platte, Nebraska

Job Summary: We are looking for an experienced and results-driven Harvest Floor Maintenance Supervisor to lead maintenance support for our kill floor operations at a beef processing facility. This position is responsible for supervising day-to-day maintenance activities: preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and equipment reliability while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and USDA regulations. You will play a key leadership role in minimizing downtime, improving equipment performance, and supporting production goals through strong team leadership and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily maintenance support for kill floor operations to ensure equipment uptime and production continuity
  • Supervise, train, and coach maintenance team members to perform work safely and effectively
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, USDA, food safety, and environmental requirements as they relate to maintenance work
  • Coordinate and prioritize work orders, urgent repairs, and preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment such as conveyors, pumps, motors, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, and processing machinery
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, PM documentation, parts usage, and compliance-related records
  • Lead daily safety meetings, enforce LOTO (lockout/tagout), and ensure adherence to plant safety protocols
  • Partner with production, sanitation, and operations leaders to plan maintenance around schedules and reduce operational disruptions
  • Manage and maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and critical spare parts; coordinate with procurement as needed
  • Identify reliability issues and drive continuous improvement projects to increase equipment life, reduce breakdowns, and improve response time
  • Support installations, upgrades, and line changes to meet changing production demands
  • Ensure maintenance areas and work sites meet housekeeping and sanitation expectations for a food production environment
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in industrial maintenance (food processing, beef processing, or related manufacturing preferred)
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems and industrial equipment troubleshooting/repair
  • Basic computer skills for work orders, documentation, and reporting
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead diverse teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to a safe, respectful, and team-oriented work culture
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards and safe work practices (including LOTO)
  • Ability to collaborate across departments to resolve operational challenges
Preferred Skills
  • Experience supporting kill floor or beef processing equipment and production environments
  • Electrical troubleshooting experience (motors, sensors, VFDs, controls) a plus
  • Welding/fabrication experience (MIG/TIG/Stick) a plus
  • Ability to work in cold, wet, and physically demanding environments
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, and work around production equipment for extended periods
  • Strong time management, critical thinking, and prioritization skills in high-pressure situations
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems and preventive/predictive maintenance best practices
