Rental Outside Sales – Western Nebraska

Cogent’s Velocity Pump Rental Division is a growing company that serves contractor, municipal, and industrial markets and provides dewatering systems. We are looking for an Outside Sales Representative to cover a new regional territory in Western Nebraska.

Our brands include Automatic Engineering, BRI, Fluid Equipment, Lee Mathews, Industrial Measurement and Control, iME Solutions, Vanco, Vandevanter Engineering, Velocity, and Water Technology Group. We serve the local industrial, municipal, commercial building trades, and oil & gas markets.

• Generate profitable sales revenue by renting pumps and providing engineered pumping solutions for either short-term or long-term projects for the purpose of moving fluid.
• Establish new rental accounts through phone calls and in-person visits to potential customers.
• Build, develop, and grow client and vendor business relationships vital to the success of the rental business.
• Present turnkey services to potential customers.
• Ensure project plans and updates are well communicated to clients and internal staff.
• Maintain knowledge of all rental products, pricing, terms, sales, and policies.

• Associate, vocational, or bachelor’s degree in mechanics, industrial engineering, or construction management preferred.
• At least three years of B2B direct sales experience within the equipment industry preferred.
• Previous experience in the rental industry is a plus.
• Pump equipment background highly desirable.
• Experience selling a product with a service element.
• Beneficial to have previous experience in construction management as a foreman or superintendent.
• Strong business development and customer retention skills.

• A strong working knowledge in rentals, customer service, and sales techniques.
• Proven track record of success in outside sales, preferably within the construction or related industries.
• A strong network of contacts in the construction and contractor sectors.
• Self‑motivated, with a drive for hard work and achieving results.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage your territory effectively.
• Proficiency in MS Office and Google Suite.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team‑oriented, collaborative environment.
• Ability to effectively multitask, prioritize, and execute tasks in a high‑pressure environment.
• Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
• Ability to elicit cooperation and defuse tension, if necessary.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
