We are expanding our service footprint and are seeking a Generator Service Sales professional to help grow recurring service revenue
, strengthen customer relationships, and position VES as a trusted long-term service partner.
The Generator Service Sales Representative is responsible for developing, managing, and expanding generator service business within an assigned territory. This role focuses on selling preventive maintenance agreements, service contracts, repairs, parts, load bank testing, emergency response services, and system upgrades to existing and new customers.
This position requires strong technical understanding of generator systems combined with a consultative, value-based sales approach.
Key Responsibilities Account Management & Business Development- Manage and grow a portfolio of generator service accounts
- Prospect and develop new service customers within assigned territory
- Build long-term relationships with facility managers, operations leaders, contractors, and engineers
- Identify customer needs related to uptime, compliance, and reliability
- Sell preventive maintenance agreements (PMAs) and long-term service contracts
- Develop proposals for repairs, upgrades, parts, and system improvements
- Promote load bank testing, fuel system services, remote monitoring, and emergency response programs
- Support temporary power and planned outage solutions in coordination with operations teams
- Conduct site walks and high-level equipment assessments
- Identify reliability risks, code compliance gaps, and aging infrastructure
- Collaborate with service managers and technicians to develop accurate scopes of work
- Present service solutions tied to risk reduction, uptime improvement, and cost control
- Promote turn-key Repair-by-Replace solutions for systems that have reached their end of life and are beyond reasonable repair.
- Work closely with service operations, dispatch, and technicians to ensure smooth execution
- Communicate customer expectations clearly to internal teams
- Support scheduling and prioritization for key accounts
- Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts, and account plans
- Track market activity, competitor offerings, and customer trends
- Participate in account reviews, service planning, and customer meetings
- 3+ years of B2B sales experience in generator services, electrical services, or industrial equipment
- Strong understanding of standby power systems and service-driven sales
- Experience selling service contracts or recurring revenue solutions
- Ability to read and understand basic one-lines and generator system configurations
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regionally
- Generator service background or prior technician experience
- Familiarity with diesel and gaseous generators, ATS, and switch gear
- Experience selling to industrial, healthcare, data center, or infrastructure customers
- CRM experience and formal sales process training
- Consultative, relationship-driven sales approach
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Technically curious with the ability to translate technical issues into business value
- Organized, disciplined, and proactive
- Ability to work cross-functionally with operations and leadership
- Comfortable operating in high-urgency, mission-critical environments
