CDL Driver

Overview

Founded in 1957, Raymond Building Supply supplies specialty building materials to customers across southwest Florida, operating multiple locations in the state, including custom millwork, wall panel and truss manufacturing facilities. Raymond's operations also include Jones Lumber, with locations in Boca Raton and Fort Pierce, and Lou Mac Distributors in Fort Myers.

• Deliver materials to job sites and unload as required.
• Inspect and maintain the truck; report shortages and claims to supervisor.
• Assist in loading and storing of materials; organize and secure loads.
• Prepare DOT required log of time on duty and driving.
• Operate safely and participate in a positive work environment.
• Maintain a current Class A or B Commercial Driver's License as required.
• Check orders for accuracy and provide excellent customer service.
• Complete daily equipment pre-inspection; maintain cleanliness of truck and yard.
• Record all merchandise that is returned by truck and assist in unloading material returned for credit.
• Follow guidelines established by the Department of Transportation and company policies.
• Relay messages from customers while on the job; assist supervisor and other departments as assigned.
• Operate truck-mounted forklift safely and efficiently; maintain good housekeeping in yard and warehouse.
• Participate in and complete assigned trainings; perform other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or GED required.

• CDL experience preferred.
• Basic CDL experience with flat beds and/or tractor trailers required.
• 1-3 years CDL experience required for interstate commerce.

• Ability to do basic math, read orders, write instructions and complete forms.
• Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with customers, other employees and supervisors using verbal and written skills.
• Ability to deal constructively with conflict and recognize potential problems.
• Maintain current operator's license and meet company driver qualification requirements.
• Knowledge and ability to use safe lifting techniques.
• Proficiency with or ability to learn current technologies (e.g. Smartphone, GPS and other necessary business applications).
