What You'll DoThe Warehouse Associate / Back‑up Driver is responsible for supporting daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, and distributing materials, tools, equipment, and products. The role also serves as a back‑up delivery driver, ensuring timely and safe transportation of goods to customers or job sites when needed.
Receiving- Read production schedule, order documents, shipping orders, packing slips, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
- Mark materials with identifying information.
- Open pallets, crates, and other containers.
- Verify and record amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
- Drive equipment to transport items within the warehouse.
- Use computer to enter records.
- Compile worksheets or tickets from customer specifications.
- Sort and place material or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequences such as size, style, or product code.
- Store stocked goods in warehouse.
- Mark materials with identifying information.
- Weigh or count items for distribution to ensure conformance to company standards.
- Fill requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distribute items to customers and sales.
- Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets or shelves or convey orders to packing station or shipping department.
- Compile worksheets or tickets from customer specifications.
- Read production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
- Verify the product that has been picked and document discrepancies on an error log, then re‑pick correct product.
- Confirm tickets.
- Use computer to enter records.
- Consolidate freight for shipping.
- Communicate with sales associates or managers to problem‑solve and meet customer needs.
- Act in a helpful and cooperative manner toward customers and World associates.
- Ensure truck is in safe operating condition and maintain a clean appearance.
- Lift, push, and slide packages that typically weigh up to 75 lbs.
- Construct pallets based on delivery area to prevent stock damage on delivery.
- Participate in processes and programs aimed at promoting a safe work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and/or
Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record.
Requirements:
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Write routine reports and correspondence.
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units to measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Compute rates, ratios, and percentiles; draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Knowledge of warehouse technology including the use of RF guns and warehouse inventory software.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, the Internet.
- Previous forklift/cherry picker experience.
- Basic safety knowledge (proper lifting techniques, etc.).
- Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and sliding of packages that typically weigh up to 75 lbs.
- Require standing, walking, bending, climbing, reaching with arms, and constant use of hands.
- Continuous mental and visual alertness to maintain safety and accuracy.
- Flexibility and mobility in body movements.
- Removing gates from flatbed trucks.
- Occasionally, may be required to lift items greater than 75 lbs with assistance.
