Organization Overview

Excel Academy is a network of 5 schools in Massachusetts and Rhode Island that prepares students in grades 5‑12 to succeed in high school and college and engage productively in their communities. The majority of our 1,700 students identify as Latinx or Hispanic and will be the first in their families to graduate from college. Families choose Excel because our students consistently outperform peers in growth and achievement and are 5x more likely to graduate from college.

Excel teachers deliver effective, high‑quality, rigorous college‑preparatory instruction to foster student success. Successful teachers are entrepreneurial, eager for feedback, and passionate about their content area.

• Collaborate with teachers to help students master content and language objectives.
• Advise teachers on accommodating curriculum for MLL students.
• Collaborate with teachers to modify curriculum when necessary.
• Provide coaching to teachers on best practices for working with multilingual learners.
• Provide inclusion support for classes containing MLL students.
• Work specifically with MLL students during assigned periods of the day.
• Create a safe learning environment for all students by implementing Excel's strategies and best practices consistently.
• Collaborate with department members on curriculum refinement and implementation.
• Design and implement rigorous assessments that evaluate student mastery of academic standards.
• Serve as a productive member of the Excel Academy community.
• Do whatever it takes to ensure the mission of the school is upheld.

• Bachelor’s degree is required;
  Master’s degree is preferred.
• Rhode Island certified (All Grades English to Speakers of Other Languages Teacher PK‑12) or in the process of obtaining certification.

$50,000‑$81,000 commensurate with experience.
