Integrated Kindergarten Special Education Teacher vacancy at Woodhaven is considered a highly specialized position. In accordance with Article VII, Section 5(e), of the Local 920 Collective Bargaining Agreement, a teacher shall not be eligible to transfer from a highly specialized position, such as MLL, severe/profound, or mild/moderate positions for the initial three (3) years of placement in said position, except as deemed appropriate by the Superintendent.

• Candidates must be certified by the Rhode Island Department of Education in one of the following general education areas and one of the following special education areas:

  General Education

  • Early Childhood Education Teacher, Grades PK - 3
  • Elementary Education Teacher, Grades K - 6

  Special Education

  • Early Childhood Special Education Teacher, Birth through Grade 3
  • Elementary Special Education Teacher, Grades K - 8

  Preference will be given to candidates who hold or can demonstrate progress towards an English as a Second Language certification issued by the Rhode Island Department of Education.

  Preference will be given to applicants who meet the Awareness or Proficiency requirement per the RI Right to Read Act.

  If offered a position with North Providence Public Schools, you are required to obtain a national criminal background check with fingerprinting obtained at the State Attorney General's Office.
