Behavioral Specialist

North Providence Public Schools is seeking to hire Behavioral Specialists for the 2026/2027 school year.

Schedule:

- 7.5 hours per day, including a 0.5-hour unpaid lunch break - All days when school is in session | Please refer to the School Calendar linked here. Hourly Rate: $28.09 - $30.69 [based on experience]

Position Summary:

Support the implementation of a comprehensive school-wide approach to social emotional learning and health by: collaborating with teachers, parents, administrators, and other school personnel to address student behavior; collecting and using behavioral data effectively; developing effective behavior support plans for students; supporting case management, behavior strategies, and interventions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the development and implementation of functional behavior assessments, behavior intervention plans and crisis plans for identified students.
  • Provide constructive feedback regarding student behavior with teachers, clinical and other support staff.
  • Track student progress; develop a data system to collect and summarize behavioral data.
  • Maintain records of students' reports, services provided and behavioral data.
  • Measure goals and objectives of behavior support plans to ensure they are being met.
  • Continually improve positive, non-threatening approaches to behavior management and discipline.
  • Support the implementation of research based methods of classroom management and behavioral strategies.
  • Serve as a resource/consultant to classroom teachers and other school personnel.
  • Collaborate with therapists, classroom teachers and special subject teachers to implement an integrated educational model.
  • Complete all reporting requirements as mandated by the school, state, federal, and educational agencies.
  • Attend classroom, team, and IEP meetings, to coordinate and implement behavioral interventions.
  • Continue to strengthen practice through participation in ongoing workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced coursework.
  • Coordinate between teachers and parents to implement behavioral interventions.
  • Communicate with parents and case managers in regards to students' progress.
  • Analyze behavioral interventions to determine success.
  • Assist students in identifying inappropriate behaviors and develop better behavior alternatives.
  • Monitor and adjust programs designed for each student.
  • Demonstrate professionalism in/outside agency
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Job Requirements:

    • Associate's degree or certified by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board as a Registered Behavior Technician.
    • Experience working with students with varying levels of disabilities.
    • Experience developing and managing student behavior plans.
    • Extensive knowledge and understanding of the concepts, principles, and methodologies of effective instruction and positive behavioral interventions, supports, and strategies to address behaviors.
    • A firm understanding of social, emotional, and behavioral issues.
    • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
    • Current de-escalation District approved training/certification. Those not certified are required to attend the next available District-provided training.
    • Flexibility and strong organizational skills.
    • Must be a creative and strength-based, solution-driven problem solver.
    • Ability to work as part of a team.
    • Ability to use technology effectively.
    • Ability to work on multiple projects and respond to requests and deadlines in an accurate and timely manner.
    • Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment in resolving problems.
    • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
