Summary
The Registered Nurse is accountable for the provision of safe, efficient, and therapeutically effective care on the patient care unit to which they are assigned. Care is delivered in compliance with hospital policies, procedures, legal and regulatory standards. The role includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, with comprehensive documentation on all prescribed forms. The RN develops and maintains collaborative, professional relationships with other members of the health‑care team, prioritizes and coordinates the patient’s care, actively contributes to quality‑improvement efforts, accepts responsibility for personal professional development, and contributes to the growth of others on the team.
The RN fulfills responsibilities as an employee of St. Joseph Health Services of RI.
Graduate of an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred.
LicensureCurrent Rhode Island RN licensure required.
Experience1–2 years of previous experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities- Clinical assessment.
- Delegation to ancillary staff as appropriate to the role.
- Patient and family education skills.
- Knowledge of aseptic principles and the technical skills to perform nursing procedures.
- Ability to calculate medication dosages.
- Organization and priority‑setting skills.
- Maintenance of confidentiality (HIPAA).
- Demonstrated customer‑service skills.
- Responsive customer‑service skills, taking into account cultural background, linguistic skills, and age of patients.
- Cooperative work with peers and other disciplines.
- Effective communication and collaboration with peers and interdisciplinary teams.
Visual acuity and hand dexterity are required. Physical ability includes stooping, bending, kneeling, lifting, standing, walking, twisting, stretching, and reaching, as well as pushing, pulling, and lifting more than 30 pounds.
