POSITION SUMMARY

A Dave’s Fresh Marketplace Meat Clerk is responsible for providing a high level of customer service and practicing safe food handling procedures. This position receives, stores and grinds meats; stocks and transports raw, cured, and boxed meats and poultry from delivery truck and rotates product to ensure freshness. The Meat Clerk keeps all meat cases stocked and clean. A Meat Clerk ensures proper inventory control to maximize product freshness and availability, and answer questions from customers in a friendly and helpful manner.

MINIMUM

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Prior Meat Department experience preferred, but not required
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be comfortable with customer facing interactions
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensuring that each customer receives outstanding customer service by providing a friendly environment – includes greeting and acknowledging customers, smiling, making eye contact, and all other components of customer service
  • Maintaining an awareness of all meat products on sale – I.E., Weekly Ad meat items
  • Properly wraps, weighs, packages, and labels meat/poultry products
  • Assists in stocking merchandise; displays and maintains in-stock conditions
  • Maintains the organization, stacking, and rotating of all meat and poultry products in the cooler and freezer
  • Ensures proper temperatures in all cooler/freezer cases
  • Assists with shelf stocking, organizing, and cleaning as needed
  • Assists customers by taking and filling special orders
  • Takes customer special orders with accuracy: both by phone and in-person
  • Cleans and sanitizes work areas as directed – I.E., tables, floors, walls, cases, coolers, freezers, work surfaces
  • Maintains and organizes supplies
  • Assists in maintaining all equipment in safe working conditions
  • Control shrink through adherence to policies and procedures
  • Completes all logs as required
  • Rotates product and pays particular attention to code dates; maintains a fresh and appealing appearance throughout the department
  • Cutting gloves, such as Kevlar gloves, must be worn on non-cutting hand while cutting any product. This policy is mandatory
  • Awareness of food allergens; able to answer customer questions regarding food allergens
  • Maintains clear communication with Meat and Store Management
  • Notifies management of pricing discrepancies
  • Assists Meat Manager as needed
  • Maintains proper safety practices and care while using all available cutting accessories
  • Maintains strict adherence to Dave’s Fresh Marketplace recipes
  • Adherence to department-specific dress code policy
  • Follows all safety, health, and Weights & Measures regulations; monitors temperatures within cooler, freezer, and cases on a regular basis
  • Adhering to all Dave’s Fresh Marketplace policies, procedures, and practices including signing, pricing, and loss prevention
  • Strict adherence to all Food Safety & Sanitation procedures
  • Performing other duties as assigned

  • Proper handling of equipment – I.E., knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, and hand trucks
  • Ability to examine products for freshness
  • Ability to handle varying quantities of raw meat/poultry
  • Willingness to collaborate and work well in a team environment
  • Ability to follow directions
  • Willing to learn cutting tasks as directed by Meat Manager
  • Ability to perform repetitious activities
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and stay organized
  • Ability to provide/receive constructive feedback
  • Reliable and dependable; able to work a flexible schedule – including weekends
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 3 shifts per week
  • Ability to solve practical problems
