Overview

A Amazon Robotics description for a Commodity Manager role located in the greater Boston and Seattle area. The team designs, tests and builds robotic solutions, software, and related systems to solve real-world challenges and transform customer experiences. The role supports the supply chain and supplier relationships across global operations, with a focus on robotics products, hardware engineering, manufacturing operations, and program teams.

Key

job responsibilities
  • Lead cross-functional supply chain teams dedicated to supplier and supply chain design, sourcing, and logistics decisions, and supply chain execution for robotics products from concept through development to scaled deployment.
  • Act as single point of contact for program resources to communicate supply chain decisions, provide feedback on supply chain implications of program decisions, and support financial planning and capital approvals.
  • Collaborate with Robotics leadership to ensure partnership between Robotics Supply Chain, hardware engineering, operations and program teams on commodity and supplier selection, cost performance analysis, cost roadmap development and execution, enabling rapid product development and scaled deployment.
  • Define and approve Product level Supply Chain Strategy documents, identify critical components and suppliers, develop product cost roadmaps to meet payback targets, define capacity plans and associated sourcing and tooling requirements, and conduct supply chain risk assessment and mitigation plans.
  • Develop negotiation strategies in collaboration with sourcing for categories impacting the product to meet business objectives and foster sustainable relationships with strategic suppliers for Amazon Robotics products.
  • Manage supplier relationships including supplier performance, capability development, capacity planning, contracting, risk mitigation, and cost and quality improvements in collaboration with GCMs.
  • Oversee supplier relationships and ensure alignment with sourcing strategies, including performance, capacity planning, contracting, risk mitigation, and quality improvements.
  • Work with technical operations, engineering, and program teams on new product introduction programs to define standard and custom product requirements, ensuring sourcing strategies meet technical capabilities, cost, and business goals.
  • Develop efficient and accurate mechanisms for communicating forecasts and capacity requirements for sustaining and new products.
  • Guide purchasing and planning teams by monitoring supplier performance and addressing supply or quality issues.
  • Align supplier strategies to Robotics goals for sustaining production and new product introductions.
  • Develop and execute global commodity strategies that align business requirements with supplier capabilities.
  • Maintain monthly supplier scorecards and conduct quarterly executive business reviews.

Basic qualifications
  • 2+ years of developing, negotiating and executing business agreements experience
  • Experience influencing senior leaders and stakeholders
  • Experience managing programs across cross-functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
  • Bachelor s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related technical field
  • Experience directly working with engineering teams
  • Experience using Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of basic supply agreement construction and key contracting provisions/requirements
  • 2+ years of high-volume manufacturing operations or sourcing experience
  • Experience in supply chain, commodity, and supplier management in a global sourcing and operations environment
  • 2+ years of direct experience in sourcing mechanical components, including machined parts, stamped parts, plastic parts, and/or raw materials
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience in online advertising or high-tech products/services
  • Experience scaling a publisher monetization product or service
