Job Description & How to Apply Below

Amazon Industrial Robotics is seeking exceptional talent to help develop the next generation of advanced manufacturing facilities that will transform production at Amazon's scale. We're building revolutionary factory systems that combine cutting‑edge automation, sophisticated process engineering, and advanced simulation modeling to create adaptable manufacturing solutions capable of meeting dynamic production demands. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of manufacturing and automation at an unprecedented scale, working with world‑class teams pushing the boundaries of what's possible in factory design, process optimization, and production flow.

As a Principal Industrial Engineer, you will architect next‑generation manufacturing systems and drive technical strategy for our operations. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience leading transformational optimization of large‑scale, complex manufacturing environments—someone who has owned end‑to‑end industrial engineering for world‑class production facilities and delivered measurable, breakthrough results.

In this role, you'll leverage deep expertise in discrete event simulation, factory layout optimization, and production system design to architect, validate, and scale our manufacturing processes. You'll work hands‑on with cutting‑edge simulation technologies to test and refine systems before implementation, ensuring maximum efficiency and scalability. Working alongside a collaborative team of forward‑thinking engineers, you'll blend strategic leadership with technical depth—personally driving detailed engineering work like takt time analysis, capacity modeling, and layout optimization while mentoring talented teams to push the boundaries of operational excellence.

Success in this role requires a proven track record of technical innovation in high‑volume manufacturing environments, the ability to lead transformational change in complex industrial systems, and demonstrated expertise building and leading high‑performing teams that set new industry standards for manufacturing excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Develop comprehensive technical vision and strategy for advanced manufacturing systems across multiple facilities
  • Lead architectural design of complex, scalable factory systems from concept through commissioning, establishing industry‑leading technical standards
  • Drive innovation in manufacturing optimization methodologies, including simulation modeling, digital twin technology, and data‑driven process improvement
  • Create governance frameworks and technical roadmaps that enable rapid, reliable manufacturing system development
  • Champion continuous improvement culture through advanced analytics, lean principles, and systematic problem‑solving approaches
  • Build and nurture high‑performing engineering teams capable of delivering transformational results in complex industrial environments
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or above in Industrial, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or other related discipline
  • Experience in manufacturing, process, or industrial engineering
  • Experience leading large‑scale, technical or engineering programs with a proven record of thought leadership, business case development, realizing customer benefits, and successful program completion
  • Experience hiring, developing, and managing high‑performing technical teams
  • Demonstrated proficiency in simulation modeling and process optimization
  • Exceptional strategic communication and executive presentation skills
  • PhD in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, material science, physics or equivalent, or PhD
  • Experience in patents or publications at top‑tier peer‑reviewed conferences or journals
  • Global manufacturing innovation leadership experience
  • Expertise in emerging manufacturing technologies and Industry 4.0 principles
  • Experience developing technical talent and engineering excellence programs
  • Advanced certification in manufacturing methodologies
