PLC Engineer N. Reading MA

Location: North Reading, MA, US

Teradyne’s Defense and Aerospace Division leads in providing high-performance test solutions for defense and aerospace markets. We are looking for a member of an interdisciplinary systems engineering team to develop new integrated ATE systems.

• Interface with Engineering, Marketing, and Sales teams to generate concepts & proposals for PLC based solutions.
• Estimate effort and cost of prospective solutions to customer opportunities.
• Design and develop programs and procedures for customer demonstrations.
• Interface with SW Engineering, HW Engineering, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing and Customer to troubleshoot and resolve complex customer problems.
• Develop, debug, and maintain large-scale PLC implementations for automated test equipment.
• Manage outsourced PLC development teams.
• Travel to customer locations required up to 10% of time.

• Degree in Electrical/Electromechanical/Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years’ experience in Electrical/Electromechanical/Computer Engineering.
• Strong automation troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Ability to work on cross‑functional teams.
• Ability to manage both small and large projects.
• Must be proficient with Siemens PLC programming, TIA Portal, Step 7 (Allen Bradley or Beckhoff PLC experience considered).
• Experience managing outsourced PLC development teams preferred.
• Proficient with MS‑Office and related applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

The base salary range for this role is $126,800–$202,900. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.

Incentive Plan:
This job is eligible for discretionary bonus(es) based on financial performance.
