Overview

Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to develop, tune, and optimize advanced robot motion control systems for complex robotic platforms. This role focuses on controller development, performance validation, automated testing, and system optimization across position and torque control applications. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in feedback control theory, robotics control systems, and real-world hardware implementation. You will work closely with robotics engineers and applied scientists to improve controller performance, establish testing methodologies, and build scalable validation frameworks that ensure reliable operation in demanding environments.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, tune, and optimize robot motion control systems for position and torque control applications.
  • Design and implement advanced controller tuning methodologies for complex robotic systems.
  • Create automated testing and validation frameworks to evaluate controller performance.
  • Develop automated test suites to analyze system response and identify performance improvements.
  • Conduct system identification, modeling, and control analysis using engineering tools and simulation environments.
  • Troubleshoot control system issues using data-driven approaches and performance metrics.
  • Analyze sensor, actuator, and embedded system behavior to improve control accuracy and reliability.
  • Establish standardized testing processes and documentation for controller evaluation.
  • Support motion planning and real-time control system development efforts.
  • Document testing methodologies, validation results, and controller performance metrics.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Controls Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong foundation in classical control theory, linear systems, and applied dynamics.
  • Experience developing and tuning control algorithms on physical robotic hardware.
  • Hands-on experience with sensors, actuators, embedded control systems, or robotic platforms.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or similar modeling and analysis tools.
  • Experience working with real-time control systems and motion planning.
