Manufacturing Engineer, Robotics, Automation & Mechatronics Engineer
Amazon Industrial Robotics is seeking exceptional talent to help develop the next generation of advanced robotics systems that will transform automation at Amazon's scale. We’re building revolutionary robotic systems that combine cutting‑edge AI, sophisticated control systems, and advanced mechanical design to create adaptable automation solutions capable of working safely alongside humans in dynamic environments. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of robotics and automation at an unprecedented scale, working with world‑class teams pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in robotic manipulation, locomotion, and human‑robot interaction.
If you are passionate about precision manufacturing, hands‑on fabrication, and delivering high‑quality parts for cutting‑edge technology, we want to talk to you.
Key Responsibilities- Program, set up, operate, and maintain 5‑axis CNC mills and 5‑axis mill‑turn machining centers to produce precision components for prototyping and production.
- Develop and optimize CNC programs using CAM software, ensuring efficient toolpaths, proper feeds and speeds, and high‑quality surface finishes.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and perform routine maintenance and calibration on CNC equipment.
- Design and fabricate custom fixtures, jigs, and work‑holding devices to support production and assembly processes.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to assess part designs for manufacturability and recommend design improvements.
- Support machining operations and prepare materials for prototyping and production runs.
- Source and procure cutting tools, raw metals, and consumables; manage tooling inventory and maintain stock levels of hardware and fabrication supplies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment in compliance with machining safety standards.
- Generate process documentation, work instructions, CNC programs, and equipment maintenance logs.
- Experience writing and publishing technical documents or equivalent.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities.
- Ability to work proactively and independently, meet deadlines, and deliver on projects and tasks.
- Associate’s degree or higher in Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum 5 years of hands‑on CNC programming experience, including operating and setting up CNC mills and lathes (2‑axis through 5‑axis).
- Proficiency in CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, NX CAM, Edge Cam, or equivalent) for toolpath generation and CNC programming.
- Proficiency in Solid Works, NX, or equivalent CAD software for reading and interpreting 3D models and engineering drawings.
- Solid understanding of machining principles, GD&T, and shop safety practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
- Experience programming and operating DMG machines with Siemens controls.
- Familiarity with multi‑axis (4‑ or 5‑axis) machining strategies and fixturing.
- Background in mechanical fabrication or prototyping environments.
- Experience with inventory management systems and procurement processes.
- Knowledge of materials science as it relates to metal fabrication, including aluminum, steel, and titanium.
- Experience supporting engineering teams in a fast‑paced product development or R&D environment.
- Familiarity with additive manufacturing technologies as a complement to subtractive processes.
