Overview

We are seeking a Systems Engineer to join the Robotics Delivery & Packaging Innovations (RDPI) Technology Deployment team within Amazon Robotics. In this role you will plan, execute, and launch industrial automation technologies across North America stores, working at the intersection of mechanical, electrical, network, and software systems. Travel to project sites will be at least 75% of the year.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and guide the installation of robotics, packaging, and sortation technologies at Amazon fulfillment centers.
  • Develop deep knowledge of robotic systems and lead installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting on site and remotely.
  • Manage technical ambiguity around integration of workcells in fulfillment centers.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineering, technical program managers, product managers, and internal customers.
  • Travel to project sites to ensure alignment of stakeholders on program status.
  • Manage day‑to‑day project scheduling and budget management.
  • Work on continuous improvement activities to enhance project performance.
  • Generate and implement improvement ideas around work scopes.
  • Lead teams of engineers on projects.
  • Relocate to Amazon Corporate offices in Seattle, Boston, Nashville, or Austin as required.

About the Team

The RDPI Tech Deployment team is missioned to enable the delivery of large‑scale automation technologies designed and manufactured by Amazon. The multidisciplinary team—field deployment engineers, controls engineering, design for deployment, product single‑threaded leaders, and program management—collaborates across North America to solve real‑world challenges and improve customer experiences.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related STEM field.
  • Experience working in an engineering, construction, manufacturing, or warehouse environment.
  • 1+ years' experience with technical drawings and/or reading CAD models (mechanical and electrical).
  • 1+ years' experience working on mechanical, electrical, IT networked, or software systems.
  • Understanding of data collection, reporting processes, and ability to make data‑driven decisions.
  • Ability to review data to set troubleshooting priorities on highly complex technical systems.
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Interest to work primarily in a construction or warehouse environment in a field‑based role.
  • Ability to travel domestically 75% or more of the year.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals.
  • 1–3 years of experience working in a field engineering, construction, manufacturing, or warehouse environment.
  • Proven experience working on hardware integration or complex mechanical‑electrical or networked industrial equipment; knowledge of specific robotic equipment (Fanuc, ABB) and Allen Bradley PLC experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate past use of data to drive decision‑making processes.
  • Practical understanding of network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, HTTP).
  • Certification in OSHA, ANSI, or other automation safety certifications; familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma is a plus.
