Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Amazon is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to help concept, design, and scale assembly operations. This is a hands-on individual contributor role at a new prototyping facility — you'll be designing processes, commissioning equipment, and scaling best practices. The ideal candidate brings 7+ years of experience in high-volume assembly environments, with strong skills in process engineering, equipment deployment, and production system design.

You should be energized by ambiguity, comfortable iterating quickly, and motivated by solving hard problems. This role requires strong technical execution, collaboration across disciplines, and the willingness to roll up your sleeves in a dynamic environment where the next problem is never the same as the last one.

Key job responsibilities include partnering with product design teams to incorporate DFM/DFA considerations, advocating for the simplest and most reliable assembly processes, and iterating rapidly — especially as the product design itself is still evolving. You will develop and prove out assembly methods for complex electromechanical products. You will drive manufacturing line concept, design, requirements, sizing/balancing/timing, material flow, vendor selection, equipment specification, automation strategy, installation, and commissioning.

You will define line requirements including layout, work content, cycle times, rates, and headcount. You will support detailed design of assembly equipment and fixturing; develop equipment specifications; identify vendors and manage the RFQ, selection, FAT, and deployment process. You will engage with equipment OEMs, tooling suppliers, automation integrators, and key production partners. You will drive project scope from concept through production launch.

You will drive production readiness and operational performance, including safety, quality, throughput, and scrap reduction. You will identify opportunities to densify, reduce non-value-add operations, and drive significant improvements from one build iteration to the next. You will develop and standardize assembly processes, control plans, maintenance strategies, and operational documentation. You will apply Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and data-driven problem-solving to drive continuous improvement.

You will mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence, safety, and operational discipline.

- Experience in vendor management, or experience in facilities management
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.

- 7+ years of direct manufacturing engineering experience in high-volume assembly environments for complex electromechanical products.

- Experience supporting commissioning, startup, and ramp-up of integrated assembly operations.

- Strong knowledge of assembly methods including mechanical joining, fastening, adhesive bonding, press-fits, human-assisted automation, and robotic assembly.

- Track record of driving down manufacturing costs while maintaining or improving product quality.

- Solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt preferred).

- Ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams in fast-paced, high-ambiguity environments.

- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production

- Experience with the project management of technical projects
- Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
