Job Title: Materials Manager / Inventory & Manufacturing Planner

Location: North Reading, MA (Onsite)

Duration: 6-Month Contract

Pay Rate: $54–$59/hour on W2

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Materials Manager / Inventory & Manufacturing Planner to support manufacturing operations for advanced automation and robotics products. This role is responsible for inventory strategy, production planning, configuration management, and ensuring materials are available to support manufacturing schedules.

The ideal candidate has experience in high-volume manufacturing environments and a strong background in inventory management, production planning, ERP systems, Bills of Materials (BOM), and engineering change management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain inventory control policies and procedures to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Manage cycle count programs, investigate inventory discrepancies, and implement corrective actions.
  • Optimize inventory levels while minimizing excess and obsolete (E&O) inventory.
  • Create and execute inventory strategies aligned with production and business requirements.
  • Manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Manufacturing Change Orders (MCOs).
  • Build, maintain, and update Manufacturing Bills of Materials (MBOMs) with complete configuration accuracy.
  • Maintain Bills of Distribution, sourcing rules, routings, and manufacturing master data.
  • Develop finite‑capacity production schedules based on labor, equipment, and material availability.
  • Release and manage work orders throughout the production lifecycle.
  • Perform capacity planning and identify manufacturing bottlenecks to improve throughput.
  • Optimize production sequencing to reduce changeovers and maximize operational efficiency.
  • Develop dashboards and KPIs to monitor inventory performance, production planning, and operational metrics.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Logistics, and Supply Chain teams to support production goals.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing, materials planning, inventory planning, or supply chain operations.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain concepts including forecasting, planning, sourcing, inventory management, and logistics.
  • Experience working in high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Hands‑on experience with ERP systems and supply chain planning tools.
  • Experience managing Bills of Materials (BOM/MBOM) and Engineering Change Orders (ECO/MCO).
  • Proficiency with reporting and data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Quick Sight, or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience writing SQL queries for reporting and data analysis.
  • APICS CPIM or CSCP certification.
  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) manufacturing programs.
