The Installation Technician 4 will perform installation tasks for AVI‑SPL contracted projects including cable pulls, cable terminations, system equipment and components, rack fabrication and wiring, layout for equipment and metal fabrication. The role also involves leading and directing installation crews, coordinating system testing, and reporting progress to the Project Manager to ensure that projects meet time, scope, budget, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction requirements.

Day‑To‑Day Responsibilities
  • Perform installation tasks as outlined in the project scope and directives.
  • Demonstrate site leadership, mentor all site technicians, and verify the quality of work.
  • Read and interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints.
  • Use hand and power tools to solder and crimp connectors and perform other installation system tasks.
  • Test point‑to‑point cabling, system functionality, and control/DSP system code, field‑loading as necessary.
  • Support engineers or programmers with minor programming changes.
  • Track, manage, and secure all associated equipment and tools on the job site.
  • Work with office staff to initiate return material authorizations as needed.
  • Support the Project Manager with site supervision, daily status communication, and required documentation.
  • Act as the customer liaison on site, directing change requests to the Project Manager for confirmation.
  • Coordinate with other trades on site.
  • Perform client training as needed.
  • Travel to various job sites as required.
  • Perform additional tasks, responsibilities, and projects to support the team, ensuring flexibility to evolving priorities.
Qualifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present technical information to technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • High level of professionalism, strong work ethic, and commitment to high‑quality work.
  • Advanced understanding of audio‑visual systems including projectors, screens, speakers, microphones, video conferencing, digital signage, and control systems.
  • Proficiency in installing, terminating, and troubleshooting low‑voltage cabling (e.g., HDMI, CAT5e/6, fiber optic).
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues with audiovisual equipment and systems.
  • Expert‑level understanding of network infrastructure integration with audiovisual systems.
  • Expert‑level troubleshooting skills for complex technical issues.
  • Safe and efficient use of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Experience leading and managing site teams on large‑scale, complex projects.
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies in the audiovisual industry.
  • Experience with specific test equipment for required applications.
  • Familiarity with industry installation safety codes and standards.
  • Routinely advises Project Manager on project planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
  • Routinely assists Programmer in code loading and testing on site.
  • Valid and current AVIXA CTS‑I General Certification required.
  • Specific industry and manufacturer training or certifications as required by AVI‑SPL.
  • Valid driver’s license and a motor‑vehicle record meeting AVI‑SPL’s driving privilege standards.
  • Minimum of 6‑8 years in audiovisual, electronics, or related installation experience.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
Nice‑To‑Haves
  • Formal education in Audio‑Visual, Electronics, or a related field.
  • CDL license.
  • External training such as OSHA 30‑Hour Construction Course.
  • Confirmed Project Site Lead role experience.
  • Ability to obtain formal approved clearances (government or system‑specific).
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing, walking, and physical activity.
  • Regular bending, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Climbing, overhead work, and working at heights.
  • Use of tools and equipment as required.
  • Frequent lifting or moving up to 50 pounds; heavier lifting may require assistance or mechanical support.
  • Field or construction environments.

Compensation

Hourly: $36/hr – $46/hr
