Purpose
The Estimator supports the development of accurate and timely cost estimates and sales quotations that contribute to JBC’s growth and customer satisfaction. Working closely with Sales, Engineering, and Operations, this role focuses on learning JBC’s products, materials, and manufacturing processes while building foundational estimating and business skills.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Develop estimated cost breakdowns that include materials, labor, tooling, overhead, and margin assumptions.
- Support the RFQ process from receipt through quote submission for assigned opportunities.
- Review engineering drawings and technical documentation to identify basic requirements, assumptions, and potential risks.
- Evaluate material options and supplier quotes to support cost, lead time, and performance objectives.
- Select appropriate converting, fabrication, and manufacturing processes based on established standards.
- Document assumptions, risks, and exclusions clearly within estimates and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, and Operations to ensure quotes align with manufacturing capabilities.
- Participate in internal discussions related to cost drivers, feasibility, and process selection.
- Support prototype and sample cost estimates.
- Maintain accurate and timely data entry in ERP, QMS, and CRM systems.
- Assist with Engineering Change Notifications
- Follow company policies related to pricing, proprietary information, and data governance.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve estimating accuracy and efficiency.
- Develop working knowledge of:
- Common materials (foams, tapes, insulation, foil, rubber, plastics, etc.)
- Basic supplier capabilities and sourcing approaches
- Converting, fabrication, machining, and assembly processes
- Applicable quality and industry standards
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 0–3 years of experience in estimating, manufacturing, engineering support, or related technical roles.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel required); experience with ERP systems is a plus.

- Safety toe shoes are required when on the production floor.
- Normal Schedule – 8 am to 5 pm;
Monday thru Friday;
May vary with business needs.
- Work performed in an office environment.
- Must be able to work as part of a team or independently with limited supervision.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
