Education and Support Service Assistant
We offer hybrid working which includes a blend of home and office working with a minimum of one day per week in our office.
Based at:
Team Fostering North Shields.
12-month Fixed term contract with possibility of becoming permanent.
Full Time 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday with 30 minutes unpaid lunch break.
Salary: £29,652.14 to £33,697.87 per annum depending upon experience.

We are looking to recruit an Education and Support Service Assistant to support the Educations Support Service team. The team is focused on providing education support, support to young people preparing for independence, ensuring children contribute to, and are involved in how the services are run. The team also provide outreach support, advocacy, activities and training, which helps create positive outcomes for children, young people and their foster families.
We are looking for a candidate who can bring demonstratable experience and knowledge of:
- Demonstrable experience of working directly with children and young people in education, care, youth work or a similar setting
- Very flexible and self-motivated, with a strong commitment to undertake continuing professional development
- Experience supporting children with social, emotional or behavioural needs
- Experience delivering individual or group support sessions or activities
- Experience working collaboratively with multi‑agency professionals
- Understanding of the barriers to learning and wellbeing faced by vulnerable children and young people
- Ability to promote participation and improve outcomes for children and young people
- Ability to relate well to young people and use a range of strategies to engage them and support their confidence and self esteem
- Good communication skills – oral, written and digital
- Ability to use initiative successfully both independently and within a team
- Ability to plan, deliver and review individual, activities and group support sessions
