Position: Receptionist - 11 month limited term

Job Description

The Receptionist is the first point of contact for all visitors, customers, suppliers and couriers attending Seaspan. The primary focus is to perform receptionist duties including greeting and directing visitors and to ensure that all visitors are provided the appropriate security access and Personal Protective Equipment. Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on‑site based at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.

This is an 11 month limited term opportunity.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform receptionist duties, including greeting and directing visitors to the Company, managing incoming calls to VSY, managing the traffic flow of deliveries, couriers, etc., and ensuring that all visitors have the appropriate security access and safety equipment.
  • Verifying visitor identity and confirming the validity of visits.
  • The first point of contact for assistance with EV charge stations and EV parking issues.
  • Denying access to unauthorized personnel.
  • Maintain required documentation and provide  services for non‑union staff, customers, visitors, and contractors by creating new and replacement cards using Keyscan and Genetec software systems.
  • Adding access for the WGym to employees’ access cards.
  • Provide admin support to Manager of Corporate Security and Director Property, Facilities, and Security.
  • Maintain Marsec (Marine Security for VSY) documentation relative to security exercises performed 4‑5 times a year.
  • Update VSY contact lists for distribution to staff on a monthly basis.
  • Assist with Seaspan‑related programs including United Way Campaign, Corporate Golf Tournament, etc.
  • Responsible for keeping a contractor list up‑to‑date and tracking expiry dates.
  • Responsible for keeping photos in Keyscan/Genetec up‑to‑date; organizing the schedule to get this updated once a month.
  • Daily visitor card audits.
  • Tracking stationary/printer ink stocked for the main floor.
  • Admin contact for electric charge station.
  • Coordinating buddy parking procedures.
  • Coordinating and selling Seaspan merchandise online and in‑person.
  • Coordinating with logistics operator with pick‑up/drop‑off golf cart needs to provide access and administration to high‑density file room, PPE closet, and other offices.
  • Resetting mag‑lock alarms for atrium doors.
  • Acting as Alternate Company Security Officer (ACSO) as required under the Contract Security Program.
  • Designated official for the Controlled Goods Program.
  • Other additional duties as assigned.
What You’ll Bring
  • Completion of Grade 12 education, supplemented by courses in office administration.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in reception or a similar role is required.
  • Eligible for Industrial Security Clearance – Classified Control Goods.
  • Able to obtain and maintain ACSO status.
  • Present a pleasant and professional manner at all times, acting as the first point of contact for visitors.
  • Above average communication skills, able to use discretion and confidentiality in dealing with a diverse number of contacts.
  • Ability to multi‑task and complete clerical work while managing continual interruptions.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Able to work independently and with limited direction in a fast‑paced, active environment.
  • Ability to exercise tact, discretion, and sound judgment at all times.
Salary

Starts at $5,893.27/month (rate increases to $6,548.08/month after the probation period). This is a unionized position, and pay rate for this position is set out in the applicable collective bargaining agreement. The rate stated above is the starting rate for this position. It increases after the probationary period and continues to progress as per the collective agreement.
