Position: Pattern Maker 2

Base pay range

CAD $82,000 - $102,000 per year.

Department: Product Creation Development

Reports to: Pattern Making Lead

Location: North Vancouver, BC

About the Role

As a Pattern Maker 2, you partner with Design from the maker phase, supporting concepts all the way through pre‑production, creating patterns that meet design intent, Arc’teryx quality, fit and construction expectations.

Based out of our North Vancouver office, this role is performed on‑site.

You will be part of a focused team of Product Developers, Designers, Pattern Makers, Cutters and Sewers that work on creating innovative products, building strong relationships with cross‑functional partners to realize ideas into commercialized successes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpreting design intent and creating concepts, prototypes and counter‑sample patterns, ensuring methods and documentation are consistent with known factory methods and processes.
  • Partnering with Designers and Product Developers to establish standard fit, sizing and product consistency by product type/category and end use.
  • Partnering with Designers and Product Developers to establish and document product construction standards and illustrated technical specifications for all products.
  • Contributing to the block pattern library.
  • Maintaining computer pattern libraries, ensuring changes and communications are clearly shared to Product Developers, Graders, and Marker Makers.
  • Reporting on prototype and sample progress, ensuring development and product creation deadlines are met.
  • Providing estimates of raw material yields to Product Developers during prototype development.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with Designers, Sample Sewers, Product Developers and Factories.
  • Developing and maintaining accurate sample garments and measurement specifications.
  • Partnering with Product Operations to help identify areas that need improvement or clarity, and support changes needed during the Product Creation process.
  • Supporting and contributing to CLO 3D modeling as needed.
  • Participating in organized training programs.
  • Supporting on other projects as assigned.
  • Upholding Fair Labor Association’s Workplace Code of Conduct and Principles of Fair Labor and Responsible Sourcing throughout the Arc’teryx supply chain.
Future Work
  • Supporting special projects, such as Speed to Market and/or varying product categories and types.
  • Providing feedback and input into improving tech pack and development processes.
  • Supporting factories to train and help understand Arc’teryx standards and methods.
Qualifications
  • Relevant post‑secondary education and 3+ years’ experience in product pattern making.
  • Ability to work from pattern blocks or from sketches.
  • Excellent knowledge of garment constructions.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office.
  • Proactive in identifying the root cause of issues, seeking the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions with an unwavering commitment to do what is right.
