What You’ll Be Doing

Clark Wilson LLP is seeking a Legal Assistant to support lawyers within our Estates, Trusts, and Tax practice group. This role is primarily focused on solicitor‑based tax and estate planning matters, including corporate reorganizations, trust structuring, and succession planning.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Preparing, formatting, and finalizing legal documents and correspondence related to estate planning, tax planning, trusts, and corporate reorganizations
  • Assisting with the implementation of estate freezes, corporate reorganizations, and post‑mortem and succession planning strategies
  • Supporting the preparation and organization of estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, and powers of attorney
  • Preparing corporate documentation, including resolutions, share transactions, and maintaining corporate and trust minute books (physical and electronic)
  • Assisting with corporate filings and maintaining corporate records through BC Online and other applicable registries
  • Coordinating document execution processes, including arranging client meetings and managing execution copies
  • Communicating professionally with clients, accountants, financial advisors, and other external stakeholders to facilitate transaction completion
  • Managing lawyers’ calendars, scheduling meetings, and maintaining bring‑forward systems to track key dates and deliverables
  • Opening and closing files, organizing electronic and physical file systems, and ensuring documentation is complete and accurate
  • Preparing billing summaries, assisting with time entry, and supporting billing processes
  • Providing general administrative and legal support to ensure the efficient operation of the Estates, Trusts, and Tax practice group
How You’ll Be a Great Fit for This Role

The ideal candidate is a detail‑oriented and proactive Legal Assistant who enjoys supporting sophisticated tax, estates, and corporate matters and takes pride in contributing to high‑quality legal work.

  • Graduate of a recognized Legal Administrative Assistant program or equivalent education and practical experience
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Legal Assistant, preferably supporting tax, estates and trusts, corporate, or business law practices
  • Experience supporting corporate reorganizations, estate planning, or tax planning matters is a strong asset
  • Familiarity with corporate minute books, corporate records, and related filings
  • Proficiency with legal and administrative technology, including Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel), Adobe Acrobat, BC Online, MYLTSA, and document management systems such as iManage
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail, particularly when managing complex documentation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and professional advisors
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast‑paced professional environment
  • A client‑focused mindset, with a commitment to providing responsive, accurate, and professional service
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing positively within a collaborative team environment
  • Demonstrated professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment when handling confidential and sensitive client matters
