Position OverviewNorth Vancouver Nissan is seeking an experienced and motivated Pre‑Owned Sales Manager to lead the Used Vehicle Department. Reporting to the General Manager, this role oversees used vehicle sales performance, inventory management, staff development, and daily department operations. The Pre‑Owned Sales Manager sets sales objectives, evaluates team performance, supports training initiatives, assists in forecasting and budgeting, and ensures all dealership processes and customer service standards are upheld.
This is a great opportunity, with a State of the Art Facility opening soon in the North Shore Automall.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader with proven experience in automotive sales management, excellent communication skills, and the ability to drive results through coaching, accountability, and effective inventory control.
Compensation for this position is commission based.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Guide salespeople/sales managers in setting short‑and long‑term objectives.
- Set sales and gross profit targets for used vehicle sales staff.
- Assist the General Manager with planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Maintain accurate used vehicle inventory records and manage stock levels.
- Prepare sales staff monthly work schedules.
- Ensure all dealership policies, procedures, and processes are followed.
- Evaluate sales performance monthly and complete required reviews.
- Conduct daily or weekly sales training meetings.
- Hold sales staff accountable to prospecting programs and CRM usage.
- Recommend dismissal of sales staff when necessary.
- Coordinate used vehicle operations with Service, Parts, and Business Office.
- Support new vehicle sales efforts and overall dealership image.
- Collaborate with other Sales Managers on development programs.
- Fill in for Used or New Vehicle Managers during absences.
- Handle customer complaints in accordance with dealership guidelines.
- Monitor commissions and provide payroll data to Accounting.
- Serve as liaison with factory representatives.
- Attend Manager meetings as required.
- Track floor traffic accurately.
- Assist salespeople in closing deals and review incoming sales call handling.
- Ensure used vehicle inventory is secure, presented properly, and delivered correctly.
- Maintain high product knowledge and ensure manufacturer training is up to date.
All successful applicants must possess the following qualities:
- Proven automotive sales management experience, preferably in used vehicles.
- Strong leadership and coaching abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time‑management skills.
- Ability to evaluate performance and implement development plans.
- Knowledge of dealership operations, inventory management, and CRM systems.
- Ability to enforce policies, processes, and performance standards.
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- High level of professionalism, accountability, and customer‑service orientation.
