We have multiple openings for Certified Electricians at a new rail services shop that is opening in Squamish this month. The Perfect Candidate:

The successful candidate is comfortable working under schedule pressure, diagnosing complex electrical faults, and executing work to the highest safety and quality standards.

  • Certified Electrician (provincial certification required).
  • Rail-specific electrical certification or training is a strong asset (or willing to obtain).
  • Red Seal endorsement is an asset.
  • 3–7 years of experience as an electrician, preferably in rail, transportation, heavy equipment, or industrial environments.
  • Experience working on rolling stock electrical systems is strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, schematics, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic methods.
  • Experience with control circuits, power distribution, lighting, auxiliary systems, and basic communication systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and maintenance manuals.
  • Comfortable working in schedule-driven, fast-paced rail operations.
  • Strong safety mindset and disciplined work habits.
  • Methodical and analytical approach to troubleshooting.
  • Reliable, hands‑on, and accountable for quality of work.
  • Clear communication with supervisors, engineers, and team members.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Comfortable working under time pressure and changing priorities.
Responsibilities Include:

The Certified Rail Electrician is responsible for the inspection, installation, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems on rail vehicles, including locomotives, passenger cars, and freight equipment.

  • Ensures electrical systems operate safely, reliably, and in compliance with applicable railway standards and regulations.
  • Operates in a fast-paced, safety-critical rail environment where precision, responsiveness, and strict adherence to procedures are essential.
  • Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair and build electrical systems on rail vehicles and related equipment.
  • Install, modify, and repair wiring, cabling, junction boxes, control panels, lighting, communication, and auxiliary electrical systems.
  • Perform fault diagnosis on low- and medium-voltage systems using schematics, test equipment, and diagnostic tools.
  • Support refurbishment, modernization, retrofit, and commissioning activities
  • Conduct electrical inspections and testing in accordance with maintenance manuals, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Verify system functionality, continuity, insulation resistance, and grounding.
  • Ensure all work complies with Transport Canada, AAR, and applicable electrical and railway standards.
  • Complete inspection, test, and maintenance documentation accurately and on time
  • Respond to electrical issues during manufacturing, testing, commissioning, and in-service operations.
  • Perform root‑cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring electrical faults.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, engineering, and quality teams to resolve system‑level issues.
  • Work closely with other electricians, mechanics, supervisors, engineers, and project teams.
  • Provide feedback on electrical system reliability, maintainability, and design improvements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of maintenance practices, safety procedures, and documentation.
