Science Technician

We are seeking an organised, enthusiastic, and proactive Science Technician to join our thriving Science Department. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting high‑quality teaching and learning across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics by preparing practical materials, maintaining equipment, and ensuring the smooth day‑to‑day running of our laboratory.

Contract: Term Time Only (38 weeks)

• Prepare, set up, and clear away equipment and materials for science lessons
• Support teachers during practical activities where required
• Maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring all resources are safe, clean, and well‑organised
• Manage chemical and equipment inventories, including safe storage and disposal
• Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, including COSHH and CLEAPSS guidance
• Assist in developing new practical activities and demonstrations
• Support administrative tasks within the Science Department

We are looking for someone who:

• Is organised, reliable, and able to work independently
• Has strong practical skills and an interest in science
• Communicates effectively with staff and students
• Understands (or is willing to learn) best practice in laboratory safety
• Can manage workload efficiently in a busy school environment

Previous experience in a laboratory or school setting with COSHH and CLEAPPS training is desirable but not essential—full training can be provided for the right candidate.
